Recently we had an incredible visit to Adams Farms in Bonnie, where we got to hear from Leon Adams about the ins and outs of running a multi-generational farm. The farm's roots go all the way back to 1844 when the first land was bought for just $1/acre. Fast forward to today, and the farm spans nearly 6,000 acres, now growing everything from corn, soybeans and wheat to pumpkins.
What truly stood out was Leon's personal journeyβfrom working on the family farm to owning and managing the entire operation. His advice? "Youβre going to go to school whether you want to or not, sometimes itβs the school of hard knocks." He stressed that no one is perfect at everything, and leveraging the right resources is key to business growth.
A special shout-out to Leon's wife and daughters, who play a pivotal role in the livestock side of things.
We wrapped up the day with a fun tour, which included climbing into a tractor and even petting a sheep! A huge thank you to Leon for sharing his valuable insights and life lessons with the next generation of entrepreneurs.
